After looking around for a couple of weeks, I was finally able to get my hands on the Canon 70-200 f/4L IS lens. With the recent earthquakes in Japan, camera equipment supplies have been disrupted. Below are a couple of quick test shots that I took with this lens with my Canon 7D. These shots are straight from the camera, with the exception that I have resized them down to 25% of their original resolution (click to view the 25% version).
Both shots were taken hand-held with the image stabiliser on the lens switched on. I found that I still couldn’t take stable shots at ISO100 with the shutter speed at around 1/6 (using Program Auto). I had to bump up the ISO to 800 to get a hand holdable shutter speed of 1/40. I used to be able to hand hold shots at 1/25 but I think I need to get used to the weight of this lens.
